Made in Abyss: Mezameru Shinpi

Made in Abyss: Mezameru Shinpi is a film that continues the story of the Made in Abyss franchise, following the events of Retsujitsu no Ougonkyou. The movie blends adventure with darker elements of horror and mystery as it explores the strange and dangerous world of the Abyss through a science fiction lens. This is the latest installment in the series, released in fall 2026.

The film released on October 23, 2026, and has completed its theatrical run. As a sequel to a previous Made in Abyss movie, it assumes familiarity with the broader narrative and characters established in earlier entries. Viewers new to the franchise should begin with the original Made in Abyss series before watching this film to fully understand the context and emotional weight of the story.

Made in Abyss: Mezameru Shinpi maintains the franchise's signature approach of combining fantastical world-building with genuine tension and dramatic stakes. The movie format allows for a focused narrative experience rather than episodic storytelling, delivering its story as a single film rather than across multiple episodes.
